Pure Friends

  March 8, 2017

Pure Cycles was founded by three friends since childhood who returned home to southern California after college to create their dream jobs by launching a new bike brand.

Pure Fix-Volta profile

The Volta is the first eBike from Pure Cycles. They call it “your new superpower.” Weighing just 35 pounds, the Volta has a distinctive shape and uses smaller 22-inch tires. The battery pack is hidden in the frame for a clean look and powers a 250W rear hub motor. The bike has many other nice features: automatic headlights and taillights, an integrated basket for carrying up to 30 pounds, and a built-in GPS tracker with phone-push notification for theft detection if someone tampers with or moves the bike. An app provides ride tracking and performance data, plus maps and more. It’s just the type of innovative new electric bike one would expect from the founders of Pure Cycles.

Jordan Schau, Austin Stoffers and Michael Fishman grew up together riding bikes in southern California. They launched Pure six years ago as a direct-to-consumer brand selling fixies, and they have since expanded their urban bike line. Jordan handles marketing, technology and the website. Michael oversees finances, and Austin is responsible for production, assembly and logistics. It’s a nice division of labor, and the Volta marks a leap forward for Pure Cycles, which is currently running a Kickstarter campaign with a pre-order discounted price of $1,499 for the Volta. They are offering it with a chain and derailleur or Gates Carbon Drive belt system. We know which version you’ll buy! Check out their launch campaign at the link. volta.purecycles.com
