Bicycling Mag: District Carbon Redefines Why You Love to Ride

  May 7, 2010

Weighing a shade over 15 pounds and featuring a Madone OCLV black carbon frame, Trek’s District Carbon with Gates Carbon Drive is the Rolex of singlespeed bikes. That’s what Trek marketing guru Eric Bjorling calls it in a review in the May 2010 issue of Bicycling Magazine. Writer Mike Cushionbury clearly enjoyed riding this bike, calling it “amazingly fun.” The article also raves about the clean and quiet belt drive: “The Gates Carbon Drive belt stays clean and won’t grab pant legs like a messy chain can.” Cyclists will buy this bike, the article concludes, because they are in love with it.

If you’re feeling the love and want to read more, check out journalist Steve Casimiro’s post about the District Carbon at theadventurelife.org

Casimiro called it “whippet fast, dark as midnight on the new moon and cooler than the other side of the pillow. It provided the most fun I’ve had on a road bike in ages, primarily because of the belt drive, which provides instantaneous and silent acceleration.”

Nuff said.
